Robert Lee McKie entered the Navy on June 9, 1941 and trained at Farragut Idaho and Bremerton Washington.
He was sent overseas to the Pacific Theater on Nov 27 1943 where he saw service in the Marshall Islands, Saipan, Guam, Palau, and Leyte Gulf Philippines.
He was a quartermaster third class.
Medals earned were Victory, One Star, American Theater, Asiatic Pacific, Four Stars, Philippine Liberation with one bronze star, and President's Citation with one star.
He returned to U.S. on Nov 21 1945.
In 1951 he joined the Denver Police Department serving in various activities including the motorcycle and K9 Corps. Later he was involved in training guard dog obedience.
He retired as a sergeant in 1976 after 25 years of service
He was a school bus driver from 1976 to 1986.
He was a member of the VFW.
He died Dec 5, 1987.
